Near Tuzi and Podgorica lies one of the most famous wine areas in the Balkans  the vineyards of Plantaže 13. Jul located in Tuzi, where the famous Vranac grape is grown.

 

The word “Vranac” comes from the Slavic word “vrana” (black horse), referring to the grape’s very dark color and strong character.

 

Typical characteristics of Vranac wine:

               •             very deep dark red / almost black color

               •             strong body and high tannins

               •             flavors of blackberries, cherries, plum

               •             sometimes notes of chocolate and spices

               •             alcohol usually 13–15%

 

It is considered the national wine of Montenegro.

 

 

🌍 One of Europe’s biggest vineyards

 

The vineyards in Tuzi cover around:

               •             2,300 hectares of vineyards 

Some of the most famous wines produced there include:

               •             Vranac Pro Corde – one of the most famous Montenegrin wines

               •             Vranac Reserve – aged in oak barrels

               •             Vranac Barrique – stronger premium version

The main cellar of Plantaže  is one of the largest underground wine cellars in Europe.
